Author Pictures at Lebrecht www.authorpictures.co.uk is steadily expanding. We are unearthing unusual material as well as the well known. There are few photographs of Austrian author Joseph Roth but we have found some rarely seen portraits of him in the twenties alone and with his wife Frederike.
Two of his famous books are Job (1930) and Radetzky March 1932). He died aged 45 in 1939. Contact pictures@lebrecht.co.uk for more photos in this series.

Lebrecht has represented the works of Georg Mayer-Marton, Hungarian artist who lived in the UK, for many years. His paintings include musical themes, Mediterranean locations, and human relationships . Very little of his early works remain as his home took a direct hit in the London Blitz and everything was destroyed. His evocative view of the world is hugely popular in Austria and increasingly so elsewhere. We will be adding several hundred new reproductions of his works to our website.

Theatre in London is at a high point at the moment. Lebrecht photographers were out there shooting the first nights. Highly recommended productions from the research team at Lebrecht are: Candide at ENO – the musical by Leonard Bernstein based on Voltaire’s famous philosophical book;

The Black Watch from the National Theatre of Scotland which deals with the experiences of a unit in Iraq, placing it in the context of the history of this famous Scottish regiment. As well as production photos Lebrecht holds historical background material for both these productions.
