Maurice Seymour Estate

Lebrecht is proud to announce that it has taken on representation of the Maurice Seymour estate, the internationally known Chicago based photographer who worked from the mid-1930s until the 1970s photographing many of the performers who worked in the nightclubs and theatres of Chicago.

Seymour was born in Russia and together with his brother was apprenticed to a photographer. Later on the two brothers set up in business together. When the ballet Russe de Monte Carlo came to Chicago he was chosen to photograph them and these photos are well known worldwide for their distinctive style and lighting. This was his first ballet assignment and it remained the focus of much of his work. When you look at these examples the images will be immediately familiar to you, although you may not have always read the name of the photographer. Search on our website for more examples of his unique work which is all in copyright.
