Press Release: Art Images at Lebrecht –

–  where else would you look now?

We are launching our new website in January 2011 – a specialist art archive with over 20,000 world famous and unusual images. has extensive coverage of Russian, Italian, French Japanese and Near Eastern art – many of these images are rarely seen, some are so well known they have become a backdrop to the modern world. We have been amassing material over the last two years from various European private and public collections and are now unveiling our own dedicated website.

What is in our new art collection?

–   Artworks ranging from ancient Greece through the Middle Ages and Renaissance to 19th century romanticism and 20th century avant garde.  From great Italian artists such as Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci to French post-impressionists Seurat and Gauguin, from Russian icon art and Repin to Vienna Secession artist Klimt.

–  Fabulous photographic studies of artists at work such as Arp, Utrillo, L S Lowry, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Francis Bacon, Christian Boltanski, Henry Moore, Lynn Chadwick and many more

–  Over one thousand posters online from famous artists like Miro and Picasso, representing great historic movements such as the Russian Revolution and Soviet Empire, World War One and Two, the Spanish Civil War and social history in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Unique caricatures from living artists Phil Disley, John Minnion, Neale Osborne, Robert Risko (Vanity Fair magazine artist)

–  Fine art photographs from our world-class contributors whose work crosses over the line from editorial to museum standard work. Two examples are Suzie Maeder and Neil Libbert who are known for their performing arts photography but have submitted work that has moved in very different directions.

Exhibition launch: We have commissioned the renowned portrait artist Zsuzsi Roboz  to create a new exhibition of leading British authors and playwrights. The exhibition will be launched by the David Messum Gallery of Mayfair, London, in 2011.

Our service: When Lebrecht offers art, we do so with an unmatched knowledge of its provenance and its place in the history of human civilisation. The paintings augment our collections of music, authors and literature and history with unusual images of great works and great events in the making.

But these are just the beginnings. If you cannot find the precise image you require on contact us at or call +44(0)20 7625 5341 and we will search offline amongst the thousands of art works to which we have acquired access.
